Sexual ‘equality’ has put crazies in the cat bird seat. As FRI has noted, with the exception of a few individuals with ambiguous genitals, those who want to ‘change their sex’ are simply ‘nuts,’ to use common parlance. And those psychiatric ‘professionals’ who have been persuaded that someone desiring to change his or her sex has a ‘condition’ requiring ‘treatment,’ including mutilation and hormones, are ‘nuts’ too. Rather than helping troubled individuals in sensible ways, the credibility of the psychiatric profession has been so dented as to make the truth seem stranger than fiction. For now, much as the firemen in Ray Bradbury’s famous novel Fahrenheit 451 were trained to start fires instead of put them out, psychiatrists today are trained to invent ‘illness’ and ‘mental conditions’ where none exist.

Case in point. In Batavia, New York a high school science teacher wants to ‘become a woman.’ This nut can’t become a woman; he will always be a man. But he might become a mutilated man and dress in a way that fools the casual observer. The school district has told concerned parents that this teacher has rights that trump their rights to not have their children sit under the teaching of such a disturbed individual.

Clearly, the parents have reason for concern. There is empirical evidence that having a gay teacher increases the odds that some students will become gay.1 There is also evidence that having a transsexual parent increases the likelihood that a child will become transsexual as well.2 So it is quite reasonable for parents to worry that exposure to this teacher might increase the odds of unfortunate outcomes for their kids.

Yet Batavia City School District Superintendent Richard Stutzman, Jr. refuses to allow parents to transfer their children out of his classes. The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, besides calling the male teacher a “she,” claimed that under state and federal laws, “a person with a transsexual disorder is considered disabled, [and] is protected from discrimination and must be reasonably accommodated by an employer.” (9/6/06)

Really? As written, the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) specifically states that “the term ‘disability’ shall not include – (1) transvestism, transsexualism, pedophilia, exhibitionism, voyeurism, gender identity disorders not resulting from physical impairments, or other sexual behavior disorders” [Title V, Sec. 511]. Seems some want to twist the statute so that every adult desire “is protected by law.”
